Asterisk on Linux on Windows
September 22, 2004
:unsure Nearly there…. I decided to drop the Debian part of the Astwind (coLinux) installation and have gone for the Gentoo Deluxe installation instead.
The main reason being that Gentoo seems a little more intuitive for a linux noob like myself. Also, on an initial test, X running on Debian was much slower than on Gentoo (although this might have been down to me not knowing what I was doing).
I managed to build Asterisk last night and will try to get some .confs working in the next day or so.
The last thing to do will be to get Xvnc Terminal Server running, and I should then have a great little system (inside a system).
Linux for Windows
September 19, 2004
This is very cool. I came across coLinux, which is a windows application that allows you to run a linux distribution like debian as a virtual pc under windows.
This isn't the same as a dual boot, but rather both operating systems are running at the same time. The linux system looks like it's a completely seperate machine with it's own IP address.
I can (am) now able to run Asterisk and hopefully will setup GmailFS shortly.
Rather than attempting to install things seperately, I installed Astwind, which is a simple combined installer of coLinux, Asterisk, networking drivers etc. The installer gives you the option of choosing between a couple of linux distro's that are downloaded during the installation process.
Thanks to muppetmaster for pointing me in the right direction.

:blink A couple of months ago Google decided to pose a maths problem with a url as the answer. The idea is that if you can solve the problem (and the one on the url), then you are clever enough to work there.
If you are interested both answers are available here

Quentin Tarantino on Blogger

:laugh Quentin Tarantino has setup a blog hosted on blogger.com…. Funny! Seems like the main points of discussion are if the site is a hoax or not.
