Pocket OS – SLAX

:sun SLAX is a small bootable CD containing the Linux operating system. It runs Linux directly from the CD without installing, and little configuring. The Live CD is based on the Slackware Linux distribution and is downloadable from the website as an ISO image. All scripts and source code are available and can be used to build your own Live CD.

Perfect email client

:sun I’m not exactly sure now how I came across ZOË, but it is fantastic free java based application that runs in a web brower. Setting it up couldn’t have been easier. Then just leave it running to import in email and RSS feeds, and do all the indexing linking etc. Once it’s done you have a great (fast), intuitive interface for browsing email.
I’m not sure how best to explain what it does, but basically ZOË does to email clients what gmail does for email services.
100TB email account !!??

:huh Finally received confirmation on my hriders.com email account. The thing I can’t understand is that it appears that instead of the advertised 100GB of storage, I have over 100TB….

:blink I’ve just received account confirmation from hriders.com, who are offering members a 100GB email service that allows 500MB attachments!

Weiss however said that he noticed the attention Gmail received and felt this was a great way to promote his site. “Gmail was incredibly hyped and it is not even out today, ” he said. “So we decided to offer a 3 GByte email account to users. But it is easy for others to increase that to 5 GByte. We wanted to do something ‘hellacious’ and came up with the idea to offer 100 GByte and allow users to send attachments in sizes up to 500 MByte.”
I registered yesterday and received my account confirmation today (seems like they are pretty busy). The last step remaining between me a 100GB of storage is to email their webmaster with my account name and they’ll enable the email service (including pop3 access) within 72 hours…. I have no idea what I’ll use it for.
