Club Vaio Freebies
December 23, 2004
:music I’ve been a member on the Club Vaio forum for a few years now. Popping in now and again adding my 2 pence worth… and despite my criticisms, I’ll say that they do know how to take care of their senior members. Last Chritmas they gave all ‘Master’ memebers (those who’ve posted over 350 messages) a great little Cybershot U30 digital camera. This year we’ve all received a NW-E55 Network Walkman! This will be fantastic if I can find out if it will natively playback mp3 files (as suggested in the link above)
Configure Hriders Email for POP3
December 22, 2004
hmy A while ago, I blogged confirmation of my 100GB email account from Hriders.com. Since then I haven’t used it that much, since I’ve found it to be incredibly slow. Anyway I did notice that I was receiving hits from people trying to configure POP3 access to their hriders.com email account, so I decided to post how to do it.

Charity though affiliates
December 8, 2004
:love Since it is the season of goodwill etc, I started thinking again about charity and how I could give/raise more. One thing that occurred to me was that I could set up a site (say www.amazon-aid.com), as an amazon affiliate, and try to get it onto everyone’s radar as an alternative to the amazon.com homepage.
Since it would be an affiliate site, then any money sent by amazon could be sent to charity instead. Customers wouldn’t pay a thing (unless they wanted to), and the level of service (product range and pricing) would be identical to going direct to amazon.
Hmm… sounds like it should work, but I’ll have to check the T&C’s of the affiliate programme.
Fan Problems
December 6, 2004
:angry I had been experiencing problems with my webserver over the last few weeks, where it would just hang after a few hours. Rebooting seemed to resolve the problem, but didn’t know the cause. Finally it gave in, which is why the site was down most of last week.
I took a look over the weekend and realised that the fan on the cpu had died. A couple of quid spent at Maplin and a couple of mins fitting, and I’m back in action.
